- First mix rice and lentil in a bowl and wash thoroughly till cloudy water disappear.. Soak in plenty of water fo' half an hour
- Take a pressure cooker and pour 7 cups(almost tripe than the dal-rice mixture) of water and bring to a boil..put dal -rice mixture a spoon of clarified butter/ghee and salt.. close the lid of the pressure cooker and cook till 2 whistles and switch of the flame and and't immediately open the pressure cooker..let it to cook in pressure cooker steam
- When the steam releases then open the pressure cooker and stir the khichdi well..adjust the consistency of khichdi by pouring little water or by cooking more
- Yo'r khichdi is ready
- Tadka_heat ghee in a small tadka pan..splutter cumin and add pinch of asafoetida,red pepper powder and garam masala
- Transfer the khichdi in borosil or other bowl and pour tadka over it.. Garnish with slit green chilli and lemon slices
- Serve hot with curd
